Oficina de Choro celebrates 20 years of activity and opens free places for new students

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Choro Workshop project, a course that has trained more than a thousand people free of charge over these two decades. With classes aimed at people of all ages, with experience or not, the Choro Workshop has vacancies open to new students who want to dedicate themselves to learning different musical instruments, such as guitar, cavaquinho, mandolin, tambourine, woodwinds, keys, in addition to singing and composing together. The course is offered free of charge with face-to-face classes at Instituto Ling, in Porto Alegre.
Due to the anniversary of the Workshop, the course will have a special program. The initiative, coordinated by the musician Mathias Pinto with curatorship and production by Branco Produções, will offer special classes with guest teachers, among them the mandolinist and arranger Luiz Machado, who was coordinator of the Choro Workshop for ten years. As part of the celebrations, the project Soulwhich will make Machado’s complete collection available online, with more than 5,000 manuscripts of transcriptions, arrangements, chords and methods for string instruments.
