Nurses protest for new floor – 04/02/2023 – Panel SA

Involved for months in the pressure for the implementation of the new nursing wage floor, the union of the category in Rio de Janeiro is preparing a new demonstration to demand the readjustment, after another frustrated attempt at an agreement last week.

The act will be held in front of the TRT (Regional Labor Court), where there will be another hearing between workers and hospital representatives this Monday (3).

The new demonstration takes place after a strike that took place in early March, in the wake of a series of protests and other threats of stoppage in recent months for the new wage floor.

Sanctioned by Bolsonaro in August last year and suspended by the STF the following month, the law that set the new floor for nurses did not indicate the cost of salaries, which provoked a reaction from employers.

In December, Congress enacted a PEC that unlocked public funds to pay for public hospitals and SUS care networks. Health institutions, however, claim that there are still no sources of perennial funding to solve the problem.
