Still at an impasse over the new salary floor for the category, nurses are preparing a strike for this Friday (10) in an attempt to put pressure on the government for the measure.

In recent months, nursing union leaders have already made other moves, such as strikes and acts in several states to demand the new minimum wage.

On the other side of the struggle, health institutions organized yet another study to take to the STF with estimates that the new floor could generate an annual impact of more than BRL 4 billion for the private sector, without considering SUS funding.

“It is not possible to think that all systems will have the resources to raise wages. There is a concrete possibility of unemployment, especially in places where the difference [entre o salário atual e o valor do piso] is bigger”, says economist Geraldo Biasoto, one of the authors of the study prepared at the request of the CMB (Confederation of Santas Casas de Misericórdia, Hospitals and Philanthropic Entities).

The document also points to payroll exemption for private hospitals as a suggestion to offset the impact of the salary floor. “For non-profit organizations, the vast majority no longer pay employer contributions, so this has no effect. They would have to be compensated”, he says.
