Number of defaulters falls after three consecutive months of growth, says Serasa

Even with the drop at the national level, the number of consumers with debt grew in nine states

After three consecutive months of growth, the number of Brazilians in default fell. According to the most recent edition of Serasa Default and Debt Renegotiation Map71.81 million consumers (43.82% of the population) ended the month of November with financial issues – a reduction of 143.5 thousand people (0.12%) compared to the previous month.

The survey identified that people aged 41 to 60 have the most debt (35%), followed by consumers aged 26 to 40 (34.4%). People over 60 appear in third position in the ranking, representing 18.5% of those in debt.

The majority of debts refer to pending issues with Banks and Cards (28.97%). Then segments like Utilities – gas, water and electricity bills – (23.38%), Financial (16.46%) and Retail (11.14%).

On a national level, the number of people with financial issues in the country decreased, after three consecutive months of growth. 71.81 million consumers in the country (43.82% of the population) ended the month of November with financial issues – a reduction of 143.5 thousand people (0.12%) compared to October.

It is worth highlighting that Serasa has a series of programs developed with the aim of contributing to the reduction in default rates. At the beginning of the month, for example, the company launched Phase 2 of the Serasa Limpa Nome Feirão. In it, 600 partner companies offer special discounts for consumers to pay off their debts by December 22nd.
