Chief of the municipal Executive, David Almeida inspected the works in the units this Wednesday (24)
Manaus (AM) – Two new large Family Health Units (USFs) are under construction in the West Zone of Manaus. The structures are part of the Primary Care network of the Municipal Health Department (Semsa) and will expand basic health services in the capital of Amazonas, promoting a jump to more than 80% coverage, according to the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida. The head of the municipal Executive inspected the works in the units this Wednesday (24).
One of the structures, located in the Parque das Tribos neighborhood, will have medical and dental offices, new equipment, a sterilization room, a pharmacy, among other departments. According to the mayor, the unit seeks to expand services in areas with the greatest care gap in Manaus, as the city has already made a leap in Primary Care coverage, going from 47%, registered in 2021, to 82%, in 2023.
“Here in Parque das Tribos there was no UBS structure installed, because, in fact, in the West Zone, we had the areas with the largest care gaps. When we took office as mayor in 2021, we had 47% of our city with basic health coverage. With the inauguration of this unit and the other structures we are delivering, today we already have 82% coverage in the city of Manaus”,
said Almeida.
The USF is in the final stages of completion, with delivery scheduled for the first half of this year.
“This unit adds to the others we are delivering, forming the structure of Primary Care in the city of Manaus. It will be a 1,200 square meter unit, where Primary Care did not exist. So, it is the transformation of people’s lives in what concerns Primary Care, which is the responsibility of the City of Manaus”, added the head of the municipal Executive.
Still in the West Zone, in the Tarumã neighborhood, works at USF Lindalva Damasceno continue at a fast pace. The unit, which had to be demolished, is being completely rebuilt, with the replacement of floors, renovated and painted walls and new equipment. The space will also be delivered this year.
