Musician Lucas Lima launched a limited edition of coffee produced by Nescafé, the coffee arm of Nestlé.
Nescafé Gold Roast by Lucas Lima is a coffee for dripping – and not soluble, like most Nescafé products – made with 100% Arabica beans grown in Minas Gerais and with medium roasting.
The official launch took place last Wednesday (8), during International Coffee Week, a traditional event held annually in Belo Horizonte. The musician’s presence made the Nescafé stand even busier. Even though it was a business fair, there was no shortage of fans looking for selfies.
The musician, who is a coffee nerd – one of those who prepare the drink by weighing every gram of powder and using specialized equipment – said he always dreamed of having “his” coffee. He participated in the preparation of the product, from choosing the farm to packaging.
“If I were to make a coffee like everyone else and just put my name on it, it would be an ego thing that wouldn’t make sense. So we worked hard to, in addition to bringing a sweetness and a body – which we already know the people like it, it also has an acidity”, he says. “So I think it’s very different from the coffees we normally find on supermarket shelves.”
The coffee should hit the market this month and will cost R$29.90 (250 g). Gabriela Monsanto, marketing manager at Nescafé Gold, says that the product is a limited edition and only accounts for around 8% of the drip coffees currently produced by the brand.
The journalist traveled at the invitation of the CNA (Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil).
