movement encourages bars and restaurants to serve pine nuts courtesy

On these cold days, have you thought about going to your favorite bar or restaurant and getting a warm portion of cooked pine nuts courtesy of the house? This is what has been happening in Curitiba for about two weeks, since the cook and columnist for Good Gourmet Rui Morschel launched the #TemPinhãoRuizão challenge on his Instagram.

After a recent trip to Spain, Rui returned enchanted by the tapas culture, typical of the country: when ordering a beer, he immediately received, without asking, a mini portion of olives to go with it. The gesture was repeated with each new order of alcoholic beverage, in 100% of the Spanish establishments visited by him. “In addition to being impressed, I was delighted. It’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think about what I experienced there in terms of gastronomy, especially in Spain. It made a big impression on me”, says the cook.

He was so enchanted that he decided to challenge Curitiba’s bars and restaurants to do the same, but valuing an ingredient that defines Paraná’s cultural identity: pine nuts. Under the hashtag #TemPinhãoRuizão, the movement, started by Rui on July 4th, now has 20 participating establishments (see list below). “It’s been wonderful. At the beginning, I invited well-known businessmen and even friends of mine who value this issue of local ingredients and who I was sure would be up for it. From that, more people started to appear who liked the idea, asking me how they could participate ”, he explains.

For the columnist, in addition to hospitality, the #TemPinhãoRuizão challenge contributes to the appreciation of local gastronomy, which has gone well beyond the courtesy of cooked pine nuts. Some restaurants joined the movement by including new special creations based on pine nuts on their menus. This is the example of Olivença Cozinha Ibérica, which until the end of this month offers a tapa of pine nuts with cod and crunchy ham as a courtesy to customers arriving for lunch or dinner.

“All those within this movement understand the value of brand positioning as a restaurant that values local culture and with a simple attitude. For it to become a culture, entrepreneurs have to start seeing it not as a cost, but as an investment to please their customers more, make the experience better and make people remember it”, concludes the creator of the initiative.
