Mothers assisted in the municipal network highlight humanized care

Manaus (AM) – The birth of a child is one of the most important moments in a parent’s life. Josiany Ferreira, 37 years old, is the mother of Jesus, 1 year old, and a 17 year old teenager. Before Jesus, Josiany had five miscarriages. Now, with her son in her arms, she remembers all the support and care received during prenatal care, by the team at the Leonor de Freitas Basic Health Unit (UBS) and also at the Municipal Maternity Moura Tapajóz, both in Compensa, West Zone . Josiany’s story is one of those chosen within the “1 thousand Days of Management” campaign, planned by the Municipal Department of Communication (Semcom) and which has been on the streets since June 12th. The 1,000-day milestone will be on September 28. Until then, Manaus City Hall will release reports and other stories of those who had their lives transformed in the last two and a half years.

“I was well accompanied in the first pregnancy, but nothing compared to the follow-up I had with Jesus more recently. That’s because when I managed to get pregnant with Jesus, I had already gone through five abortions. So there was a whole difference ”, recalls Josiany, noting that she worked in a bakery on Avenida Brasil, when she met UBS workers and was referred to the necessary care in the municipal health network”,

explains.

At UBS Leonor de Freitas, Josiany found a personalized welcome, which left her delighted and with a feeling of security.

“In fact, with all mothers they (UBS professionals) provide exceptional care. Within the health units, they opened up a huge range of possibilities for my baby to be with us today”,

Josiany says that in addition to UBS, the “Crescer Saudável” project was fundamental in her journey with her son. Conceived by social workers and nurses from Maternidade Moura Tapajóz, the project offers continuous support to mothers monitored at the health unit. Through it, maternity workers help with scheduling appointments, giving directions for buying and donating groceries, in addition to offering a contact network between mothers with children of similar ages, to help share experiences and exchange information. .

The project was designed with the objectives of encouraging breastfeeding and the introduction of healthy foods in the child’s first years, monitoring the immunization schedule for the first two years of the baby’s life, and guaranteeing dental appointments every six months.

In two and a half years of management, the municipal health network carried out more than 480,000 prenatal consultations in its UBSs. And the Moura Tapajós Maternity, recognized for its humanized actions by the Ministry of Health itself, works to promote the bond between mothers and babies, with a support network, teams prepared to welcome and promote the well-being of mothers and newborns. -born. For more serious cases, the maternity has a neonatal Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“Every time we arrive at UBS, we are welcomed. Jesus takes all vaccines. My son is already known by everyone at UBS. We are welcomed by the service team, the vaccine, social workers, even by the UBS director. Follow-up is different. With six months, for example, he already had his first appointment with the dentist in the municipal network”,

said.

Mayor David Almeida reinforces that in addition to these actions, all health services in the municipality are prepared to offer the population humanized care, with respect for the citizen.

“People have always been a priority in our management. It is for them that we govern, it is for them that we better structure our health units and we are seeking to improve our work even more. And we see that our strategy has worked with the results presented at Previne Brasil and by the testimony of each citizen that comes to us”,

“UBS was my best choice”, says Maria Helena’s mother

In addition to Josiany’s journey, the story of another user at UBS Leonor de Freitas and Maternidade Moura Tapajóz draws attention. Maria Katarina, 37, gave birth to Maria Helena, her first daughter, in April 2022. The mother also went through a high-risk pregnancy, having already suffered an abortion at another point in her life.

“It’s my rainbow, a blessing. UBS Leonor de Freitas was my best choice. The nurse and the doctor who assisted me were very attentive. It was a wonderful prenatal. This is my first daughter. Despite having been pregnant before, I lost (the baby) at five months”,

recalls Maria Katarina, noting that she underwent all the necessary tests and received the indicated vaccines during prenatal care.

In a particularly striking moment, Maria Katarina recalls the meeting with an obstetrician from Leonor de Freitas UBS: “There was even an obstetrician here from Leonor who assisted me and I told him that I was very afraid of losing my daughter. That with five or six months, which was the same time it happened with the other. He told me ‘don’t worry, you’re on the best prenatal care you could have, get it out of your head’. I was not gaining weight because of this concern. But with his guidance and words, I was able to feel even more secure. My pregnancy was high risk, but I was always very well taken care of and everything went well.”
