Technical note from the Ministry of Health recommends the use of face protection masks for people with flu symptoms, people who have risk factors for covid-19 and suspected or confirmed cases of the disease.

According to the folder, groups with risk factors for complications from covid-19 include immunosuppressed people, the elderly, pregnant women and people with comorbidities in situations such as closed and unventilated places, places with agglomeration and health services.

In the document, the folder highlights that, although the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the end of the public health emergency of international importance, the virus continues to circulate in Brazil and in the world.

“The virus still has a pandemic character, with widespread transmission, and there is still a risk of the emergence of new variants that may be even more serious than the variants currently in circulation and must be monitored.”

In addition to the use of face masks, the ministry classifies non-pharmacological measures as important, including physical distancing, respiratory etiquette, hand hygiene with 70% alcohol or soap and water, cleaning and disinfection of environments and isolation of suspected cases. or confirmed.

The folder also reiterates the importance of vaccination against covid-19, available to the entire population over 6 months of age. The bivalent booster is available to the entire population over 18 who have received at least two doses of the monovalent vaccine.
