Sonia Fatima Moura, mother of Eliza Samudio, murdered in 2010, used social media this Wednesday, 22nd, to pay tribute to her daughter, who would have turned 38. Eliza was the victim of strangulation and dismemberment at the site of goalkeeper Bruno, then her boyfriend, in Minas Gerais. In testimony to the police at the time, the goalkeeper, who was convicted of the case, reported that his remains were thrown to dogs. To this day Eliza’s body has not been found.
“Today my prayers and my thoughts are directed to you, my daughter Eliza, 38 years old. It’s been almost 13 years since you were gone. Many of your dreams you couldn’t fulfill took with you. My heart is incomplete, a piece is missing. There are a deep and great void, which no one will be able to fill”, he began.
In the text, Eliza’s mother mentions Briuninho, now 12 years old, son of Eliza and Bruno, who is raised by his maternal grandfather.
“Today I walk side by side with Bruninho, fighting with all the strength I have left to make his dream come true, even though you are absent, you are seeing the journey of your son Bruninho, a determined, focused and painstaking boy like you. He has an example As a warrior mother you were, you fought for his life, whenever fears and uncertainties arise, I think of you”.
“Today, on this special day, for me and for Bruninho, I raise my thoughts, my heart, to God so that he can reach you. Happy birthday. Until the arrival of our reunion, pray for us, and we are here praying for you. you. Even after death, a mother’s love does not die, it continues to live”, she concluded.
Bruno was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in a closed regime for triple qualified homicide (for a vile reason, asphyxiation and use of a resource that made it difficult for the victim to defend himself), to another 3 years and 3 months in an open regime for kidnapping and false imprisonment of Bruninho and a further 1 year and 6 months for hiding a corpse. This last sentence, however, was extinct after the Justice understood that the crime prescribed.
Since obtaining the sentence progression, Bruno has already been announced by other clubs that, in the face of the negative repercussions and the consequent pressure from sponsors, gave up on his signing. This is the case of Poços de Caldas (MG), Operário (MT), Fluminense de Feira (BA) and Barbalha (CE). The goalkeeper played in five matches for Boa Sport (MG) in 2017, but the Federal Supreme Court revoked his habeas corpus and he returned to prison.
Eliza was 25 years old and had a son with the athlete, after having a relationship in 2009. After conflicts due to the pregnancy and requests for her to have an abortion, Bruno was reported by her to the police for assault.
In the episode reported by Eliza, Bruno allegedly forced her to take abortion pills and then slapped her, while friends of the goalkeeper who were carrying weapons helped in the action. She was five months pregnant at the time.
