Responsible for creating the São Jorge of the third car in Vila Isabel, the plastic artist Alex Salvador showed on Instagram the step-by-step process of making the allegory that won Marquês de Sapucaí at Carnival 2023.
Alex, who works for the Parintins Festival, in Amazonas, and has collaborated with schools such as Mocidade and Portela, shared photos of the model, iron sculpture, video of the shed and the car on the Avenue, thanking the team that helped carry out the dream of Paulo Barros. On the Avenue, the carnival designer went so far as to say:
“It’s the car of my life, I think it will join the list of pieces that I consider the most contemporary of Carnival”.
To Blog do Mário Adolfo, from Amazonas, Alex told that he worked on the allegory from creation to execution:
“The carnival designer wanted something different, to create a São Jorge that was different from everyone else that had passed through the avenue. And he asked us to look at movements based on robots and animatronics. We did a whole study, model, tests, until we reached this result. Paulo Barros liked the idea of being a hollow sculpture, in the Parintins style, as we do a lot of iron sculptures, so that people could appear, if you could visualize who was moving inside”.
During the transmission of the shows on TV Globo, the presenters Maju Coutinho and Alex Escobar said that Paulo does not intend to dismantle the piece and wants to take it to an exhibition in Miami, in the United States. That is: he wants to immortalize the allegory as a work of art.
