Manaus (AM) – The Folklore Festival of Amazonas Category Gold, which started on July 14, has been bringing visibility to the region’s folklore. With presentations of cirandas, square dances, and several other regional dances, the 65th edition of the event receives thousands of people, every day, at the Povos da Amazônia Cultural Center, Avenida Silves, Industrial District (formerly Bola da Suframa). Entry is free.
The festival is a partnership between the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy and the Municipality of Manaus, with the objective of promoting culture through the traditions and folklore of the Amazon, bringing visibility and dissemination to the culture of the region.
This weekend, the program includes Dança Internacional, Ciranda, Dança Nacional and Quadrilha Alternativa, unprecedented modalities so far in this edition of the festival.

It is very important to promote the public’s contact with these elements of popular culture, passed down through several generations and which still move the communities of Manaus. In addition, the festival generates jobs and income for the cultural sector and commerce”,

The event is expected to attract more than 100,000 people to watch the folklore shows. The dances of the folk groups take place every day at the Povos da Amazônia Cultural Center (CCPA) until the 26th of July. On the 28th and 29th, the presentations of the Bois Bumbás from Manaus, Master B and A, will be at the Sambódromo.
The opening of the event took place on July 14 and featured performances by the winning groups of the 2022 edition, in addition to the show by the national attraction, Banda Fulô de Mandacaru. The competitive shows began on July 15th, at the CCPA arena, with a series of shows by folkloric groups, in various dance modalities, including Traditional and Duel Quadrilha, Garrote, Cacetinho, Tribo and Northeastern Dance.
Schedule
On Saturday and Sunday (July 22nd and 23rd), the festivity starts earlier, at 7:30 pm, and includes six group performances each day. The estimated end time for the entire program is 23:55.
