Masterpiece launches 1st can in the world with sustainable seal – 05/09/2023 – Copo Cheio

Like other Masterpiece beers, barley wine Donatello is supervised by Ingrid Matos, chemical engineer by training and brewer of the year, elected at the recent Brasil Beer Cup, in Florianópolis.

Also like its sisters, Donatello borrows its name from an artist or work of historical relevance —in this case, a great Italian Renaissance sculptor; and also a skillful ninja turtle.

But unlike other beers in the Premium line of the Niterói (RJ) microbrewery —such as Mona Lisa, Manet or Michelangelo—, Donatello’s can is now special: it is the first in the world with the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification seal. , that is, it brings responsible aluminum management and guarantees traceability of the can throughout the chain and ESG performance.

The certification was born out of a partnership with Ball Corporation, an American company that supplies beverage packaging worldwide.

The Donatello can was printed on the world’s only photo-quality digital can printing line, Ball Digital Printing, with no other adhesive, ink or paper attached to the package.

With a short lifespan (the factory itself only opened in 2019), Masterpiece is one of the most awarded crafts in Rio in recent years. The brand maintains sustainability among its pillars and seeks to reduce the environmental impact of production: among other actions, for example, it uses rainwater harvesting in cleaning processes.

As if that weren’t enough, the beer is also good. Barley wine Donatello has 10% alcohol content and 51 IBU (bitterness unit that reaches one hundred), well balanced. If the packaging is new, the beer is already better known and awarded. The label took a silver medal in its style at the Brazilian Beer Contest and was gold at the recent Brasil Beer Cup.
