Commercial Actions

The initiative also seeks to reduce time and promote commercial actions such as business roundtables, meetings and identification of bottlenecks to improve the logistics structure.

Manaus(AM)- Suframa participated on Wednesday (31) in the 3rd Extended Meeting of the Collegiate of Deputies of the Amazonian Parliament, an association that brings together parliamentarians from the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Maranhão, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. The event was held at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Acre, in Rio Branco, and the Municipality was invited to participate in order to present a technical study on the implementation of the Manta-Manaus Multimodal Project.

The Manta-Manaus project dates back to the early 2000s, being one of the logistical axes defined by the Initiative for South American Regional Integration (IIRSA), taking advantage of the port structure of the city of Manta, Ecuador, for the entry and exit of goods mainly from the Industrial Pole of Manaus, so that, since then, the theme has been treated and accompanied by Brazil and Ecuador, with Suframa as one of the interlocutors in this discussion process.

The purpose of the project is to develop a multimodal logistics route as an alternative to the traditional route that passes through the Panama Canal, through the use of ports, highways and waterways, with a view to facilitating trade flows between the Amazonian countries, reducing goods transit in up to 15 days and thus provide greater competitiveness for the region.

One of the essential proposals to make the route viable is to improve customs conditions in the port of Tabatinga (1,107 kilometers from Manaus), a city that has a Free Trade Area (ALC) managed by Suframa and that has great potential to become a transshipment port. of goods in the middle of the route, thus being a natural point for storing goods and distribution to other nearby municipalities, also favoring the supply of Leticia, in Colombia.

In addition to presenting the technical study of the Manta-Manaus Project, Suframa highlighted to the parliamentarians of the Amazon the commitment of the management of the superintendent Bosco Saraiva in working the interiorization of the development, through the use of the legal frameworks of the incentives of the Western Amazon and LAC, including with industrialization with the use of regional raw material.

“The project allows Suframa to increasingly streamline this control of the entry of goods, in addition to identifying bottlenecks for improving the logistical structure and prospecting an economically viable corridor, with access to the Pacific”,

highlights the superintendent Bosco Saraiva.

Bottlenecks

The initiative also seeks to reduce time and promote commercial actions such as business roundtables, meetings and identification of bottlenecks to improve the logistics structure.

“In Tabatinga, there is an urgent need for customs clearance at the local port and we need to refine, with the participation of the other states represented here, the study of the exportable supply of products from the Manaus Free Zone and the municipalities of the Amazon for shipment to Ecuador and other countries bathed by the Pacific Ocean”,

emphasizes the general coordinator of Foreign Trade and International Affairs at Suframa, Arthur de Freitas Lisboa, who represented Suframa at the event in Rio Branco.
