Manaus Industrial Complex earns R$161.02 billion from January to November 2023

Manaus (AM) — Companies in the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) earned a total of R$161.02 billion from January to November 2023. In dollars, the amount was US$32.22 billion. The data comes from the PIM Performance Indicators, released monthly by the Manaus Free Trade Zone Superintendency (Suframa).

Among the PIM subsectors, the growth highlight was the Clothing and Footwear segment, with revenue of R$46.47 million and growth of 47.13% from January to November 2023 in relation to the same period in 2022; and for the Duas Rodas hub, with revenue of R$28.44 billion and growth of 17.13% compared to the same period in 2022.

The monthly employment average is 112,533 employees, including permanent, temporary and outsourced employees. The number is 1.50% higher than the monthly average for the same period in 2022, with a positive balance of 1,909 employees, between dismissals and admissions from January to November 2023.

In production, the following products stand out with production growth from January to November 2023 in relation to the same period in 2022: condensing unit for Split System (266.43%); evaporator unit for Split System (178.54%); television signal receiver (143.68%); single body window or wall air conditioner (98.61%); microcomputers – desktop (74.89%); radios and audio devices (13.02%); car radio and audio reproducing devices (11.78%); motorcycles, scooters and mopeds (11.65%); razors (10.61%); and blades and cartridges (10.49%).

Assessment

The superintendent of Suframa, Bosco Saraiva, stated that the expectation is positive for 2024, with the gradual reduction of the basic interest rate by the Copom, accompanied by the mitigation of the effects of the drought that occurred in 2023, in addition to the effects of the approval of the tax reform.

“Families’ consumption capacity tends to improve due to the reduction in interest rates, the slowdown in inflation and federal government programs, such as Desenrola, which will reduce family debt and allow more space for consumption. The enactment of tax reform also brings political stability, increases business expectations and offers prospects for long-term economic growth,”

Saraiva noted.

Another relevant point for good expectations in 2024 is the recent announcement, by the federal government, of Nova Indústria Brasil, which should open perspectives for Brazilian industry and, consequently, for the Manaus Industrial Hub.

The new industrial policy will include stimulus actions that include offering differentiated lines of financing, directing government purchases to products with minimum amounts of local content, encouraging innovation, among other actions, including regulatory ones.

“In this environment, PIM industries will have the opportunity to leverage new investments with more attractive financing costs. We also have goals established by the policy that are fully in line with production in the Amazon and potentially capable of promoting important transformations in the profile of the local industry, such as stimulating digital transformation, the bioeconomy and energy transition and security”, highlighted the superintendent.
