Manaus enters the ‘Lonely Planet’ list of the best tourist destination cities

Manaus (AM) – One of the largest tourism publishers, Lonely Planet, has just published a list of 50 destinations in the world, and the Amazonian capital appears among the ten best chosen to visit in 2024. The publication took place in celebration of the publisher’s 50th anniversary, which lists destinations such as Chile and Canada and in Brazil, only Manaus entered the select list as “Cities”.

According to Mayor David Almeida, they are the fruits of institutional work, designed for Manaus’ natural vocation as an international tourism hub.

“We have been working since last year to put Manaus on the route for major events and as the best tourist destinations. The city hall invests in new tourist facilities such as Casa de Praia Zezinho Corrêa, in Ponta Negra, the Lúcia Almeida viewpoint, Casarão Thiago de Mello, Rosa Almeida park, the holding of the largest integrated arts festival in the North, #SouManaus, where We managed to attract the eyes of the world and, of course, publicize the name “Manaus” at the biggest tourism fairs in Latin America. Now, we are reaping the fruits and, I am sure, we will reap much more”,

said Almeida.

The director-president of the Municipal Foundation for Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), Osvaldo Cardoso, reinforced that the department has been doing its job of taking the name of Manaus to the world and attracting the attention of tourists.

“Manauscult’s participation in tourism fairs has had this effect. The name of Manaus is being well represented and defended so that agencies know what is beautiful, welcoming, artistic, sustainable and unique about the city. The #SouManaus festival also fulfilled its mission of making Brazil and the world get to know our Manaus, get to know our tourism, our culture, customs, cuisine and our Amazon”,

Among the natural attractions of Manaus, the most famous and mentioned in the publisher Lonely Planet, are Encontro das Águas, Ponta Negra beach, Tupé beach, Teatro Amazonas, among others.

The vice-president of Manauscult, Oreni Braga, is in the Manauscult delegation that participates in the National Tourism Fairs, promoting and presenting Manaus as one of the best tourist destinations to travel to.

According to her, Manaus returning to the Top 10 of the best cities is the result of serious, dedicated and committed work by Mayor David Almeida, as well as a team that is proud to be from Manaus.

“After 10 years, Manaus is once again among the ten best cities to visit, this is the result of our work, the management of Mayor David Almeida who believed from the beginning that Manaus had the potential to be among the best tourist destinations. So we are working to offer more and more leisure and tourism options to welcome our visitors and also to the people of Manauara”,
