The tranquility, contact with nature and the opportunity to gather the family in a private environment increased the demand for floating boats
Manaus (AM) – The transfer by the Government of Amazonas and several companies and institutions of the holiday break from September 5th (elevation of Amazonas to the category of province) to September 8th, transformed the second week of September into an extended holiday. The Manauaras will have four days of rest. With so much free time and the intense heat, the demand for refuge in aquatic environments has increased.
Members of the Cooperative of River Transport Professionals of Marina do Davi (Acamdaf) expect an average increase of around 30% in demand for services provided in the Tarumã area.
“We provide transport to Praia da Lua and Praia do Tupé. We have the Seringal Museum on our route and we provide services to the Tarumã floating boats where around 1,500 people a day come to look for fun”,
said the director of Acamdaf, Flávio Gonçalves.
Flávio explained that prices vary and that there is no increase due to the intense flow of passengers.
“The transfer to Praia da Lua is RS 10. Three boats leave for Praia do Tupé, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The cost is R$24 per person. We charge R$21 per trip to get to the Seringal Museum. The trip to the floating boats in Tarumã-Açu costs R$ 10”,
said the director.

The tranquility, contact with nature and the opportunity to gather the family in a private environment has increased the demand for floating rentals for both spending the day and staying overnight. Businesswoman Julyana Santos, owner of one of the most traditional floating boats in the Tarumã-Açu area, said that this year, the search for a contract began early.
“We had good demand. In mid-August, people started probing. We closed with a family for four days. Generally, our audience is made up of families, men and women who like to enjoy their rest time on the floating boat. For safety and convenience, we have lighting with solar energy panels, an ecological effluent treatment station and selective garbage collection, disposed of in the dumpster in Manaus. We aim to preserve nature, which is our livelihood and natural relaxation,”
explained the businesswoman.
The daily rate for floating boats varies from R$400 to R$1,000 depending on the size and leisure options offered. It is up to the renter to bring food and drinks. Those who rent often ask for additional services, which generate a source of income for third parties.
“Generally, they choose to order delivery. They order ice, coal and other products from nautical markets. They also hire a barbecue chef and rent items such as a stand-up board, jet sky and floating mattresses. We do not offer, but we recommend partners who work with these items”,
said Josi Faraco, also owner of a floating boat in Tarumã-Açu.
Water sports enthusiasts also have the option of renting stand up pedal boards, the famous sup. “We have four sup boards and we rent them both to our floating customers and to people nearby. The rental price is R$100, from 8am to 6pm”, said Dermilson Silva.
Before venturing into the rivers, paddling on a board, you need to receive training. The sport must be practiced wearing a vest to ensure safety. Interested parties should also hurry. The service recorded a 30% increase in demand.
