Mais Médicos: 174 professionals selected in the first notice of 2023 are already working in Amazonas

In all, Mais Médicos will have, by the end of 2023, 15,000 new doctors across the country, totaling 28,000 professionals

Manaus (AM) – The Ministry of Health announced the opening of new public notices for the Mais Médicos program for professionals and for municipalities to join, with unprecedented initiatives such as doctors for Street Clinic teams and the prison population, in addition to new vacancies for indigenous territories.

In all, Mais Médicos will have, by the end of 2023, 15,000 new doctors across the country, totaling 28,000 professionals. Thus, the Federal Government’s initiative will restore access to healthcare for more than 96 million Brazilians.

Right at the beginning of this administration, in February, the Ministry of Health resumed public notices that were paralyzed by the previous administration, causing lack of assistance for regions of greater vulnerability. In March, the first notice offered 5,968 vacancies, with 1,000 new vacancies for the Legal Amazon. So far, of those selected, 3,620 professionals are already working in all regions of the country. In the North region there are already 722 doctors in activity. Of these, 174 are in the Amazon.

In June, the Ministry of Health launched another new notice with at least 10,000 vacancies in an unprecedented model of co-participation with municipalities. This form of hiring guarantees city halls lower costs, greater agility in replacing professionals and staying in these locations. In this public notice, throughout the Brazilian territory, 2,683 municipalities requested 15,838 vacancies that will be analyzed according to the criteria already defined. Of these cities, 599 will be able to have Mais Médicos professionals for the first time. In the North region alone, 218 municipalities adhered to the co-participation notice, totaling 1,417 vacancies requested. Of these, 231 were claimed for Amazonas.

President Lula signs the Mais Médicos law

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, sanctioned, last Friday (14), the law of the More Doctors Program. With the act, the National Strategy for the Training of Specialists for Health is instituted, which should increase the number of doctors working in primary care in the SUS by 15 thousand, mainly in regions of greater vulnerability. Among the advances proposed, priority is also given to the training of professionals with a master’s degree and specialization, in addition to benefits for working in places where it is difficult to provide and pay the FIES debt.
