Madonna may have painting lost for over a hundred years in her mansion

The mayor of the French city of Amiens, in the north of France, suspects that the singer Madonna has in her house a painting that had been considered destroyed during the First World War.
“Diana and Endymion,” by painter Jérôme-Martin Langlois, was commissioned by King Louis XVIII and completed in 1822.
However, it disappeared during the confrontation, which took place between 1914 and 1918. The authorities believed that the work had been destroyed after the city was bombed, in the last year of the war.
According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, the popstar bought the painting (or its copy) during an auction in 1989 for US$ 1.3 million (about R$ 6.6 million).
“Obviously, we do not want to compete with you for the acquisition of the work”, says Brigitte Fouré, mayor of the city, in a video published on social networks.
In the record, she asks the singer to lend the painting so that the city can compete for the title of European capital of culture. “This is a request I make to you as a New Year’s wish.”
This week, Madonna announced her upcoming tour. “Celebration Tour” passes through Europe, the United States and Canada starting in July, with concerts in which the singer will play her hits from 40 years of her career. There is no scheduled presentation for Brazil.
