The course is free and 22 places will be offered for registration
Manaus (AM) – The Lyceum of Arts and Crafts Claudio Santoro will offer the Free Conducting Course, which will begin in August, lasting one semester. Classes will be theoretical and practical, taught by instructor Hilo Carriel, who has international expertise in the area. The initiative aims to train musicians to act in the direction of vocal and instrumental groups.
Candidates must previously know how to read sheet music, in addition to the minimum age of 18 years and availability during the week. In addition, obtain a positive result in the aptitude test, which consists of performing exercises in musical perception and reading.
The test will be held at the school itself, which is located on the premises of the Sambódromo, on Wednesday (07/12) at 6 pm, in Block E (Choir Room). Candidates must show up at the venue 30 minutes in advance with their official identity document.
After the testing phase, registration for the course will take place in person on Thursday and Friday (13 and 14/07), from 8 am to 5 pm, at the Liceu school office, in Bloco F of the Sambódromo.
Regarding the course content, the theoretical classes include ear training, gestural technique, repertoire approaches and preparation of rehearsals and performances, while the practices take place in a laboratory that includes monitoring of rehearsals by the Liceu’s vocal and instrumental groups, in addition to organization and conduction of public presentations.
“The Lyceum has widened its range of course offerings. And here in Manaus we have many people who work in churches, are part of a musical group, or other types of demands that need to understand the conducting process”,
explained maestro Davi Nunes, director of the Lyceum of Arts and Crafts Claudio Santoro, about the initiative of the course.
“Students are expected to leave the course with enough knowledge to even work in the area and manage to generate income through musical practice”,
finished the master.
The Liceu is an initiative of the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, with the objective of promoting culture and bringing artistic training to the capital and to the interior of the state.
