President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed this Monday (19) the decree that expands the existential minimum to R$600. which cannot be enforced by creditors – is defined by Decree 11,150/2022 at R$ 303.

The agent made the announcement by twitter before leaving for Europe. The decree should be published in the Official Gazette (DOU) this Tuesday (20).

“Today I signed the expansion of the Minimum Existential amount to R$600, a measure that increases the slice of income that cannot be charged on payroll loans or blocked by financial institutions in case of over-indebtedness. This initiative is part of a series of efforts of our government to guarantee credit and consumption conditions for the Brazilian people, contributing to the heating up of the economy”, stated Lula.

According to the government, “the change extends support to citizens who face cases of over-indebtedness, by increasing the slice of income that cannot be charged on payroll loans or blocked by financial institutions”.

The measure allows about 15 million people to renegotiate debts, by bringing a higher degree of protection to consumers against possible over-indebtedness.

The National Consumer Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security will periodically organize joint efforts to renegotiate debts for the prevention and treatment of over-indebtedness due to consumer debt.
