The show Diz I still exist, directed by Zé Adão Barbosa and Rafael Dorneles, will be held this Thursday and Friday, at 8 pm, at Teatro de Arena (Avenida Borges de Medeiros, 835). The play is part of the Porto Verão Alegre 2023 program and tickets are available on the event’s website from R$ 20.00.
The play is an adaptation of Bertha’s Memories, written by Tennessee Williams. The work brings a tragic drama through the point of view of four women, who denounce moral, physical, sexual and psychological abuses, which affect different generations. Through its subplots, the project seeks to offer a diffusion about mental health and prostitution among these women, making a comparison of the show, set in the suburbs of Porto Alegre in the 1940s, with contemporary society. In addition, the staging has the practical result of expanding knowledge about the American writer and playwright.
Portuguese music aboard the White Swan
Guaíba becomes a stage for the group Alma Lusitana, which will perform at the Floating Cultural Space Cisne Branco this Thursday at 6 pm. The fado and Portuguese music group returns to Porto Alegre for the show O Guaíba will turn the Tagus, boarding at 6 pm, at Armazém B3 at Cais do Porto (Avenida Mauá, 1.050). In its first post-pandemic presentation, the show reaches its fourth edition. On this return to the stage, the group promises to present classics of Portuguese music, such as fados immortalized by Amália Rodrigues, and more current songs interpreted by Mariza and Madredeus. The group is formed by the singer Julia Machado and the musicians Jéferson Luz, on the Portuguese guitar, and Maurício Montardo, on the guitar.
Homage to the precursor of crying in Pelotas
This Thursday, at 7 pm, the Pelotense musician and composer Assumpção Avendano Júnior, precursor of choro in the city, will be remembered in a recital, at the Pelotense Public Library (Cel. Pedro Osório square, 103 – Pelotas), within the schedule of the 11th Sesc International Music Festival. Musicians Mathias Behrends Pinto, Lucian Krolow, Matheus Kleber, Elias Barboza, Guilherme Sanches, Alexandre Susin, Fernando Deddos, Albert Khattar and Marcelo Barboza participate in the show, with free admission.
