Judgment on FGTS correction in the Supreme Court is due in November

Four State ministers – Fernando Haddad (Finance), Jorge Messias (Attorney General of the Union), Jader Filho (Cities) and Luiz Marinho (Labor and Employment) – and the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Rita Serrano, as well as other technicians of the department, met this Monday. with the president of the Federal Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso, and highlighted fiscal and social concerns regarding the judgment of ADI 5090, on the correction of the FGTS.
Barroso reiterated his position that he considers the points important, but that he sees it as unfair for housing financing to be provided through the worker’s FGTS remuneration below the savings account rates. The parties agreed to have another round of conversations in search of a solution that reconciles the interests at stake.
He agreed to withdraw the case, which was scheduled for October 18th, rescheduling the trial for November 8th. Until then, the government will present new calculations in search of a solution that will be taken by the president to the other ministers of the Federal Supreme Court.
