Johnny Hooker shares Titãs’ ‘Comida’ with Uruguayan band No Te Va Gustar

♪ One of the standards featured by Titãs on the band’s fourth album from São Paulo, Jesus não temdentes no povo dos benguelas (1987), Comida (Arnaldo Antunes, Marcelo Fromer and Sérgio Britto) has generated a plethora of recordings since it was released 26 years ago . The last one was made by the Uruguayan rock band No Te Va Gustar – active since the first half of the 1990s with a discography that also transits through reggae – and features Johnny Hooker. It is up to the singer from Pernambuco to give voice to the verses in Portuguese on the bilingual recording, dominated by the part in Spanish. Vocalist and guitarist of the Uruguayan group, Emiliano Brancciari adapted the original lyrics of Titãs into Spanish. Strictly speaking, Brancciari practically translated the verses from Comida into the language spoken in Uruguay. Similarly, No Te Va Gustar’s take on Comida reverberates the funky beat of Titãs’ original rock recording. Available in Brazil, the single Comida went into rotation on Friday, February 10th, in an edition of the phonographic label Elefante Branco, having generated a clip filmed under the direction of Fede Grampín and Pablo Marcovecchio.
