Jaguar meat is among the best raw meat preparations in the world

The traditional jaguar meat from Curitiba appears in tenth place in the list of best preparations with raw meat in the world, by Taste Atlas. The platform is an online travel guide, which gathers information according to user evaluations.
The snack is recognized as an intangible heritage of Curitiba and is a must on the menus of Curitiba’s pubs. The meat used is beef, and the most popular theory about the name explains that the preparation leaves a “jaguar breath” on whoever eats it.
The dish dates back to the 1940s. It was created at the bar Buraco do Tatu, located on the corner of Rua XV and Marechal Floriano. Cristiano Schmidt, owner of the bar and president of the Britânia Foot Ball Club, took the players to the bar to celebrate the team’s victories, with lots of draft beer and jaguar meat. Over the next few decades, the recipe caught on and soon spread throughout the city.

- 80 g ground duckling
- 3 tablespoons chopped white onion
- 3 tablespoons chopped green onion
- 1 slice of bread
- Salt and pepper

- Spread the ground beef evenly over the bread.

- Add the green onion
- Season with salt and pepper to taste
