In an interview with the Mexican press, Dulce María, member of the group RBD, lamented the deaths of Taylor Swift fans in Brazil. During the American’s visit to Rio de Janeiro, fan Ana Benevides died last Friday (17) after feeling ill and Gabriel Mongenot, who was in the capital of Rio de Janeiro to attend the show, was killed during a robbery.

“It is something terrible, for which there are no words. We experienced the most horrible thing anyone could go through, but thank God, for the experience we had, we took care of safety so it wouldn’t happen again. But it’s regrettable,” he declared, in an interview with the Mexican press.

The artist also recalled the deaths that occurred during the band’s visit to Brazil in 2006, when three fans were trampled to death and dozens were injured during a performance in the parking lot of a shopping mall in the south zone of São Paulo.

Death of fans

The fan who died before singer Taylor Swift’s concert in Rio de Janeiro, on Friday (17), was called Ana Clara Benevides, was 23 years old and was a psychology student at the Federal University of Rondonópolis (UFR).

The young woman lived in Pedro Gomes, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and was taken to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital, after fainting and being treated at the stadium. The cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest.

Ana Clara ended up fainting on the spot, amidst the 60ºC thermal sensation in Rio de Janeiro. At least a thousand people fainted during the show because of the heat, according to the Fire Department.

According to nurse Thiago Fernandes, 22 years old, a friend of the young woman, she was resuscitated at the stadium for around 40 minutes, but, on the way to the hospital, she had a second stop and did not survive.

Engineering student Gabriel Mongenot Santana Milhomem, aged 25, was killed in the early hours of Sunday (19), during an attempted robbery, in Rio de Janeiro.

The boy, born in Mato Grosso do Sul, traveled from Minas Gerais to Rio to attend singer Taylor Swift’s Sunday show at Engenhão.

According to the G1 portal, Gabriel was killed on Copacabana beach. Two of the three suspects for the crime already had a criminal record and had been arrested in the act on Friday (17), but were released at a custody hearing on Saturday (18).
