Selected projects will receive investments of up to BRL 55,000 to encourage visibility, safety and respect for LGBTQIAP+ people

In LGBT+ Pride month, Itaú Unibanco, in partnership with Instituto +Diversidade, announces the 16 winning projects of the 5th edition of the LGBT+ Pride Notice. There were 521 entries from all over the country, and those chosen will receive investments from the bank in the amount of R$ 20,000 to R$ 55,000 to boost initiatives that help and encourage visibility, safety and respect for LGBTQIAP+ people, totaling R$ 500,000 in this year’s edition.

Priority was given during the selection process to projects conducted and led by LGBTQIAP+ people and that have an intersectional impact on other pillars of diversity: race, ethnicity, gender, people with disabilities, indigenous people, age and generations, refugees and other minority groups socially. In addition, they seek to boost projects in the northern region of the country. Therefore, 44% of those selected this year work in this region.

“We believe that ethics, respect and appreciation of people are essential for the development of the economy and society. Through the public notice, we reinforce our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion, offering real opportunities for a positive impact for people and groups from different parts of the country”,

says Luciana Nicola, director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at Itaú Unibanco.

Strengthening grassroots organizations is essential for social agendas to advance, which is why reaching LGBTQIA+ Pride month and contemplating several important and rich projects for the community is so rewarding. We will celebrate together at the end of the month, when the leaders of these projects will be in São Paulo on days to exchange knowledge about managing social initiatives. We want these proposals to gain prominence and encourage many other people to share their ideas, so that we can create an ecosystem that everyone can belong to.“, says João Torres, executive president of Instituto +Diversidade.

The award ceremony, when details on each of the winning projects will be presented, will take place from June 27 to 30, at the headquarters of Itaú Unibanco, in São Paulo.
