Written by microbiologist Natalia Pasternak and journalist Carlos Orsi, “What Nonsense! Pseudosciences and Other Absurdities That Don’t Deserve to Be Taken Seriously” (ed. Contexto) classifies popular practices in Brazil as non-scientific, such as homeopathy, astrology, acupuncture and psychoanalysis.

“We knew that the title was going to be uncomfortable,” said Pasternak to Sheet. “But, if it doesn’t bother, it doesn’t take anyone out of their comfort zone. And, if it doesn’t take anyone out of their comfort zone, it doesn’t bring it up for public debate and doesn’t cause changes in society.”

Several medical organizations published notes in defense of homeopathy and repudiation of statements made by Pasternak in interviews for the promotion of his new book made in partnership with Orsi. Psychoanalysts have also written articles in defense of psychoanalysis.

To better understand the subject that has caused controversy, presenter Isabella Faria talks to journalist Carlos Orsi on Como é que é? this Thursday (3), live, at 18 pm.

Streamed live from the newsroom of Sheetin downtown São Paulo, the TV Folha program airs from Monday to Friday, on the newspaper’s channels on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitch.

After the broadcast, the conversations are available in full on the TV Folha channel on YouTube and also in an audio version on the main podcast aggregators.

In addition to the new daily program, TV Folha publishes interviews, reports and minidocs on different news topics on YouTube.
