Manaus (AM) – The “#SouManaus Passo a Paço 2023”, promoted by the City of Manaus, through the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), held, this Tuesday, 9/5, a show class and conversation circle with the renowned French chef Erick Jacquin, in the auditorium of the Centro de Educação Profissional (CEP) Pequeno Franco, unit of Senac-AM. The program integrates the activities of the first day of the largest integrated arts event in the North of the country.
The director-president of Manauscult, Osvaldo Cardoso, highlighted the importance of the French chef’s show class for this exchange of experience with the chefs of the Amazonian capital.
“Bringing chef Jacquin to this exchange of experience with our Amazonian chefs, who use tucupi, who use jambu, is very important for professionals in our city. Chef Jacquin brings French sophistication to our dishes. This exchange is wonderful and enriches the gastronomy, this is a lasting legacy. #SouManaus is this, #SouManaus is culture, #SouManaus is gastronomy, shows and theater”,
emphasized Cardoso.
During the show class, guests followed the method of preparation and the techniques used in assembling French and Amazonian dishes, creating new flavors with both cuisines.
To help the French chef with the tasting menu, Senac-AM made three professionals available, including Gastronomy professor Ana Glória Amazonas.
“It was an extraordinary experience, he brought us a combination of tomato and strawberry as a gift and the dessert was surprising. I congratulate the city hall for bringing him and for the possibility for students, professors of Gastronomy, to have a new knowledge”,
highlighted the teacher, who has been working at Senac-AM for over 11 years.
Student Juliana Farias, 20 years old, who is doing an extension project called “Tempero Turístico”, also participated in the show class with chef Jacquin and found it very interesting. “It is very important to bring a renowned chef, especially now at the #SouManaus festival, where we had the opportunity to see him make regional dishes”,
finished.
Chef Erick Jacquin
Born in France, Erick Jacquin gained notoriety by popularizing the dessert recipe “petit gateau” in Brazil. He serves as a judge on the Brazilian editions of the television reality show “MasterChef” and was the host of the program Pesadelo na Cozinha “Kitchen Nightmares”, both broadcast on Band TV.
Jacquin says he is surprised by the grandeur of “#Sou Manaus Passo a Paço 2023”. “The City Hall initiative is huge, very daring, very well done and the challenge is very big. I have never seen this in another capital in Brazil. So much in one week. I’ve never seen so many artists together and gastronomy in the middle of it all. And that opens the eyes of the population to say that ‘we exist’”, he emphasized.
In all, more than 80 guests attended the show, including restaurant owners, chefs, students and professors of gastronomy.
