PEC 45/2019 was approved in December last year and now parliament will act on the creation of infraconstitutional laws
Manaus (AM) — In a meeting held on Thursday (22), at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of Amazonas (Fieam), in Manaus, federal deputy Pauderney Avelino (União-AM) was honored by the president of the institution, Antonio Silva, for his return to the Chamber of Deputies, which highlighted the parliamentarian as the “spokesman for the Amazon industry” in parliament due to his work in defense of the Manaus Free Trade Zone model throughout his seven political terms.
“It is of utmost importance for the producing classes as a whole that the deputy returns to the Chamber, because he is deeply knowledgeable about our tax legislation, our comparative advantages and several times he was involved and fought in our defense when we had constant attacks on our model. He came to pay a visit to once again stand up and be our spokesperson, the spokesperson for the industry”,
said Antonio Silva.
This year, parliament will work on evaluating proposals for Infraconstitutional Laws to regulate Tax Reform (PEC 45/2019), approved in December last year.
It will be during the debates on these bills that Pauderney states that it will be important to guarantee the security of the Manaus Free Zone Model (ZFM). In the politician’s view, the approval of the proposal last year has already provided many gains to the Amazonian industry, such as the maintenance of the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI), however, there are still some points that must be worked on, such as the removal of the Production Process Basic (PPB), which was a request from local entities.
“The proposal that had come from the Senate was a good proposal, with the creation of CIDE (Contribution for Intervention in the Economic Domain), but it was not understood. Even so, we made gains with the IPI maintained. It was an appropriate solution, a good solution, comfort for the industry in the Manaus free zone and we will look for elements to increasingly strengthen this industry”,
declared the deputy.
Pauderney will also have a team of experts in defense of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, who will monitor the work of the working groups and the arrival of bills during regulation.
