Increased sales, income generation and well-being mark the year of Shopping de Manaus

Manaus (AM) – From January to August 2023, retail sales grew 1.6%, compared to the same period last year, according to the National Confederation of Store Managers (CNDL). In the capital of Amazonas, the inauguration of projects, charitable and social inclusion actions, as well as events aimed at family leisure marked the year of Shopping Manaus ViaNorte, boosting the local economy.

Located at Avenida Arquiteto José Henrique Bento Rodrigues, 3760, Monte das Oliveiras neighborhood – North Zone of Manaus, the shopping center brings together more than 70 stores from different retail segments: convenience, perfumery, food, kiosks and others.

In 2020, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, shopping centers saw their revenue plummet. But this year, the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (Abrasce) estimates that sales will reach R$210 billion, a historic record that will represent 19% of total retail revenue in the country.

The optimistic scenario is a reality at Shopping Manaus ViaNorte, which signed more than 20 contracts for the opening of new ventures, including Polo Wear, a Brazilian clothing giant, and the recently arrived brands Salomé Grill and Natura. Another highlight is the ViaNorte Fair, organized by the Instituto Mãos Que Criam Artes, which brings together 25 entrepreneurs from the capital and the interior of Amazonas to sell various regional products and crafts.

The shopping center invested in campaigns to strengthen sales and attract consumers. Some of them were the “Super Liquida”, with up to 60% discount and post-New Year’s Eve stock clearance; “Cinema Week”, with tickets starting at R$10; “ViaNorte Mother’s Day – A Journey of Affection”, with a draw for two travel vouchers worth R$3,000 each; and “Arraial da Alegria”, the June festival with typical food stalls, square dance performances, Instagrammable spaces, toys and a free show.

Thinking about the well-being of its customers, store owners and employees, ViaNorte also promoted charitable and social inclusion actions. Held monthly in partnership with Rede Cine Araújo, the cinema sessions adapted for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) impacted dozens of parents and children, based on works such as “Puss in Boots: The Last Order”, “Gatos no Museu”, “Elementos” and the live-action of “The Little Mermaid”. Moviegoers also enjoyed the “Fast & Famous” vintage car exhibition, in parallel with the release of the film “Fast and Furious 10”, the last in the franchise.

In honor of Children’s Day, the mall held the “Happy Children’s Place”, a free program with an afternoon of theater and games, interaction with characters from “Paw Patrol” and a marching band show. The shopping center also promoted “Women’s Week – All Power is Yours”, “Easter Gift Hunt”, “Father and Son Connection” and other social inclusion and family leisure programs.

The most recent was the passage of the Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan, on December 8th. This year’s theme was “Awaken the Santa Claus in you” and brought the presence of Good Old Man and Coca’s Polar Bear mascot, in addition to the joy and generosity that fill the Christmas period.
