Michael Gambon, actor who played the eternal director of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore, in the “Harry Potter” franchise, died this Thursday (28), aged 82. The information was confirmed by the artist’s team.

The artist was the second to play the character in the cinema. In 2002, actor Richard Harris died while still working on the saga.

Gambon played the character from the third film in the sequence, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabanuntil the end of the franchise, which ended in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Since then, many artists who played beloved characters in the saga created by JK Rowling have died and left a void in the hearts of fans. Remember some of them:

Robbie Coltrane

The eternal Rubeus Hagrid died in October last year, aged 72. The death occurred in a hospital near his home in Larbert, Scotland.

The actor was part of all the films in the franchise, which began in 2001, with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stoneand completed in 2011, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

He was also successful for his work as the character Valentin Zukovsky, in 007 – The World is Not Enough It is 007 Against GoldenEye.

He won three BAFTAs for his TV work on the series Cracker (1993 – 1996). In addition, the actor was nominated twice for an Oscar for British cinema, once for his performance in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Alan Rickman

Actor Alan Rickman gave life to Professor Severus Snape, a character that divides opinions among fans of Harry Potter. He died in 2016, aged 69, due to cancer.

Richard Griffiths

Richard Griffiths was responsible for playing Vernon Dursley, Harry Potter’s step-uncle who was constantly mistreating the boy. The actor died in 2013, aged 65, from complications following heart surgery.

In addition to the franchise, Griffiths has featured in many successful UK productions such as The Misfits (1987) and Making history.

Helen McCrory

Richard Harris

Richard Harris’ death was perhaps one of the most shocking for fans of Harry Potteras the actor was still working on the franchise when he died.

He played the famous Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, when he died of lymphatic cancer at the age of 72, in 2002.

Harris, who has more than 30 productions under his belt, participated in the first two films in the saga and then had to be replaced by Michael Gambon, who played the wizard until the conclusion of the plot.

John Hurt

He had small roles in films such as Batman Begins It is Elizabeth – The Golden Ageand was an expert in martial arts.

Roger Lloyd Pack

Roger Lloyd Pack participated in the saga Harry Potter as Bartholomew Crouch, an official at the Ministry of Magic, and was most prominent in the fourth film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He died in early 2014, aged 69, due to pancreatic cancer. In the United Kingdom, he also gained popularity for the series Only Fools and Horsesshown between 1981 and 2003.
