Fuso Concept is a boutique hotel nestled on the hill of Ponta Grossa, next to an 18th century fortress listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute, Iphan, in the
north of the island of Florianópolis.

Inaugurated in 2021 as the first boutique hotel in the capital of Santa Catarina, the property chose not to be present on hosting platforms such as Booking.com.

Reservations are made only through the official website, which has guest recommendations — many accompanied by posts about the infinity pool or the private pools present in almost all 13 bungalows.

The boutique hotel has a minimalist architectural design in terms of materials (basically concrete, stone, glass, steel and wood) and invests in guest service.

The way to Fuso passes through the streets of Jurerê Internacional, with its extravagant American-style mansions and profusion of beach clubs. In the midst of all this fuss, the establishment sells itself with the proposal of being a quieter place. Upon check-in, guests are welcomed with an energizing shot.

The social area is a large 30-metre-long concrete span, where the reception, bar and restaurant are integrated into the generous pool deck, separated from the rest by steel and straw frames that seem to want to play with our perceptions of interior and exterior. . The furniture is signed by star designers such as Jader Almeida, Sérgio Rodrigues and Arthur Casas.

Around it are the bungalows, immersed in the vegetation, almost hidden in the wooden corridors surrounded by bamboos. Even though meals at the restaurant deduce that there are other guests, the rest of the time their presence is barely noticeable —mainly because, from the bungalows, all you can see is the immensity of the sea.

The bungalows seek to reproduce the hotel’s concept — the proposal that guests create their own time zone, enjoying the time as they wish. The report stayed at the Entardecer bungalow, suspended in the highest part of the land. Climbing the steps that lead to it already shows the view around. Soon after, you notice the swimming pool, private and heated — the cold weather in Santa Catarina is constant, it is worth noting), the balcony and, finally, the room itself, surrounded by a suspended garden that falls from the roof.

In the bathroom, a glass door next to the shower allows couples, in complete privacy, to take a shower with an eye on nature — and even as a partner, since the outdoor shower, on the balcony, is next door.

The tourist who wants to venture out of the hotel room can enjoy the huge infinity pool of the place, not to mention the beaches of Florianópolis, of course. Even breakfast can be served in the room, but it’s worth trying it in the restaurant.

The à la carte brunch includes shot of the day, juices (such as red fruit) and assorted fruits, grilled colonial cheese, served with cane molasses and tapioca. There is also an authorial menu with toasted brioches, served with poached eggs, spinach and trout or with mushrooms, homemade bacon and, again, colonial cheese. Everything is cooked to order.

Although without a fixed schedule, Fuso prepares special events for those who want to enjoy the hotel beyond the bungalow. During the report’s visit, the experience called Omotenashi invited different bartenders to take a letter to the bar’s stone counter with their favorite drinks, prepared while the guest explained their choices and told the stories behind them to five diners at a time.

At night, the hotel offers the Mar à Vista dinner, which has a more romantic proposal, served on the rooftop, to those who request the experience (R$ 600 per person). Under the light of the moon —and a bonfire—, the meal features three menu options (Sea, with oysters and lobsters, Earth, with quail and lamb, and vegetarian).
