Hocus Pocus dedicates week to sours beers – 02/15/2024 – Full Cup

A full week dedicated to sour beers. This is what Cervejaria Hocus Pocus proposes with Sour Week, which starts this Saturday (17) and runs until the next, 24/2, in the brand’s bars in São Paulo (in Largo da Batata) and in Rio (Botafogo and Barra da Tijuca) —Hocus Pocus is of Rio de Janeiro origin.

In addition to being, obviously, a full meal for those who enjoy the style, Sour Week can also bring a good opportunity for those who are a bit shy, or both, about sours.

Known for that sour flavor (sour means sour), or with more acidity, sours are extremely refreshing — and usually with an alcohol content well below that of hoppier options, such as IPAs and their versions. Its fermentation process with wild yeast makes beer more difficult to produce — not everyone believes that. Sours are linked to the Belgian school of beer styles and, around here, they are usually combined with fruit in recipes.

Launched in 2023, the sour Dream Potion, with strawberry, hibiscus and red fruit aroma, is the star of the event and will be present in the three bars. With 4.5% alcohol, the beer, as the ingredients suggest, has a more reddish tone.

In São Paulo, other versions will have ingredients such as tangerine, currant and kiwi with lemon. The bar will also have chewing gum to pair with the beers. At the DNA bar, in Botafogo (RJ), there will also be a special menu paired with drinks, including a cheesecake with syrup made with Dream Potion for dessert.
