Minister Fernando Haddad, of Finance, leaves for Japan this Monday night (8) to participate in a G7 meeting that will discuss, among other topics, the reform of the World Bank and the macroeconomics of emerging countries. The flight is scheduled to depart at 21:30 from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport, arriving in Tokyo on Tuesday (9).

Haddad was invited by the so-called “Group of Seven”, the seven largest economies in the world, along with other finance ministers and heads of central banks of the countries that make up the bloc. Other countries outside the G7 were also invited, such as representatives from Indonesia and India.

According to the travel agenda released by the Ministry of Finance last week, the meeting sessions begin on Friday (12). The meeting that will discuss the reform of the World Bank will have the presence of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, Janet Yellen.

In other meetings, topics such as green industrial policy, the future of the welfare state and the challenge of funding in the area of ​​infrastructure are planned.

On the other days of the week, Haddad will have bilateral meetings with other ministers of State, such as Nirmala Sitharaman, from India. The meeting will align the current presidency of the G20, exercised by the Asian country, with the next one, which will be Brazil.

Also on the agenda is a meeting with Japan’s economy minister, Yasutoshi Nishimura. Haddad returns to Brazil on Saturday (13).
