Guarulhos confirms death from dengue in 2024 – 02/06/2024 – Health

The São Paulo State Department of Health confirmed this Tuesday (6) that a 104-year-old woman died as a result of dengue fever in Guarulhos, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
Until February 3, the department confirmed four deaths in the state — two in Pindamonhangaba, one in Bebedouro and one in Guarulhos.
During this period, 29,386 cases of dengue were confirmed in São Paulo. In the same period last year, 19,094 cases had been confirmed, with 24 deaths.
The government of São Paulo announced the formation of a COE (Emergency Operations Center) to monitor and coordinate actions to combat dengue in the state.
The state plan to combat Aedes aegyptithe mosquito that transmits dengue fever, should include educational and communication campaigns, an investment of R$12 million in testing and the transfer of R$200 million to São Paulo city halls throughout the year.
The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, warned on Tuesday night (6) about the increase in dengue cases in the country. In a national statement, she stated that the emergency situation requires the mobilization of the entire population, as well as the federal government, governors and mayors.
