Project should involve public policies on biofuels and modernization of the vehicle fleet. The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, said this Wednesday (14) that the Chief of Staff should submit next week the bill that is the result of the Fuel of the Future program. The project must establish measures for the decarbonization of the transport sector. “Today, I received the news that in a few days it will be in the National Congress, being debated in the Legislative House and it will be part of Rota 2030 and other very important programs, including other international agreements such as the Paris Agreement so that we can have, from the well to the wheel, a much smaller carbon emission”, stated Silveira. The program was created in April 2021, with the aim of expanding the consumption of sustainable fuels with low carbon emissions. The proposal is to integrate public policies on the subject, such as the minimum percentage of adding biofuels to fossil fuels and the vehicle fleet modernization program, called Route 2030. Silveira also stated that the ministry seeks to encourage strategic minerals, such as lithium, which is used in batteries.
