Government wants rules for apps, but excludes couriers – 05/01/2023 – Panel SA

The government excluded couriers from the group that will discuss labor rules for iFood, Rappi and other apps.
In the decree published this Monday (1), leaders such as the National Alliance of Deliveries by Application and the National Council of Motorcycle Freight Drivers, Moto-delivery workers, Motoboys and Cyclists of Brazil were left out.
The disappointment in the category was general. Since January, when the Ministry of Labor began discussions on the regulation of work through applications, they have only been invited to participate in meetings after calling a demonstration.
The complaints reached the government this Labor Day. Nicolas Souza Santos, representative of the Alliance of Deliverers, told Panel SA that the government is evaluating a way to include the leaders of the courier base in the working group.
The union centrals must take the demands of these workers, or give up a chair so that they can speak in one of the collegiate meetings. Santos and other leaders of the Alliance attended the 1st of May act of the centrals in São Paulo.
According to people connected to the discussions in Brasilia, the government did not want couriers to participate in the working group without the ballast of the centrals.
The Ministry of Labor was contacted by Panel SA to comment on the decree, but did not respond to questions.
