The federal government delivered a draft to the Attorney General of the National Treasury (PGFN) with a definition of the model for taxation of online betting. According to information from Poder360, the proposal stipulates 15% of Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR), which deals with gross collection minus the prize paid to gamblers, taxation for companies.

The text was presented by the Ministry of Finance and the PGFN will analyze its constitutionality, in addition to making contributions on the merits. The economic team intends to follow the same model as the United Kingdom, which defined this same percentage and reached the mark of almost 90% of accredited companies acting legally.

The government foresees a Provisional Measure with the value of the license stipulated at R$ 30 million for a period of 5 years. However, the details of how the payment will be for sports betting companies to operate in Brazil, may occur through an ordinance, after the publication of the MP.

Next week, the economic team will collect opinions from representative entities and other ministries. Big football clubs in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, which complained about the lack of participation in the construction process of the MP, will be heard on April 11th. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will also be heard on April 13.
