The Government of São Paulo, commanded by Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), expects to receive 2.1 million visitors and move R$ 3.3 billion during the four days of the extended holiday on September 7th.
The estimate, made by the Tourism Economy Intelligence Center, takes into account the state’s tourist municipalities, which should host concerts, regional parties and various attractions throughout the period.
According to the center, which is linked to the Department of Tourism and Travel of São Paulo, the São Paulo hotel chain should have an average occupancy of 69% in the next few days. In cities like Cananéia, Iguape and Sete Barras, in the Ribeira Valley, the expectation is that 86% of hotel reservations are occupied.
“The extended holiday enables greater displacements, making tourism even more heated throughout our state”, says the Secretary of Tourism, Roberto de Lucena.
São Paulo municipalities with traditional itineraries, such as São Roque, which is home to the so-called “Wine Route”, already have practically all of its hotel beds reserved, according to the Tarcísio government.
In coastal regions, the expectation is that 87% of hotel reservations are occupied, given the forecast of heat for the holiday.
