Notice is unprecedented and exclusive to artists from Parintina in the visual art segment
Parintins (AM) – The facade of the Bumbódromo de Parintins will receive a new mural. The State Government opened the notice for “Mural Bumbódromo 2024” to open space for popular art and value artists from Parintina. Registration is free and can be done until March 1st, on the Culture Portal (cultura.am.gov.br).
The initiative is an opportunity for the municipality’s talents to have their art printed on the facade of the cultural center, forming the city’s scenery, during the 57th Parintins Folk Festival.
According to the regulations, participating visual art artists must be born in Parintins (369 kilometers from Manaus) and the selected work will be a reference for creating the official brand of this year’s folk festival.
Carried out by the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, in partnership with the Amazonian Agency for Cultural Development (AADC), the unprecedented call will have its results announced on March 8, on the portal and on social media (@culturadoam). For the Secretary of Culture, Marcos Apolo Muniz, the competition highlights the unique artistic class of Tupinambarana Island.
“The Government of Amazonas reaffirms its commitment to valuing culture by promoting initiatives that celebrate the rich cultural identity of our people, such as the launch of the Bumbódromo Mural competition, which will result in a work, a new work on the facade of the space ”,
said Marcos Apolo Muniz.
The Bumbódromo de Parintins is one of the tourist attractions that stands out, mainly during the folk festival. The multipurpose cultural center, in addition to hosting the great shows of Bois Caprichoso and Garantido, has a facade, whose new art should provide a 1,091 square meter roof, facing Avenida Nações Unidas. The mural is one of the most requested settings by visitors for the production of photos and content with national and international impact.
In 2023, artists from Parintina, Kemerson Freitas and Alziney Pereira, known as “Curumiz”, were responsible for coloring the Bumbódromo facade using the graffiti technique. The duo’s art became the official brand of the festival. “It is an opportunity for new talents to present their projects, just as happened with the Curumiz, responsible for the work that is on display today, entitled Vitória da Cultura Popular. This is a chance for artists to showcase their work, as the selected work will be appreciated by thousands of people during the Parintins Folklore Festival, even gaining prominence and recognition throughout Brazil and the world”, highlights Apolo.
Basic rules
To compete for the privileged space of the Bumbódromo de Parintins, some criteria must be observed by the artists participating in the Bumbódromo 2024 Mural Notice. When choosing the creation, the following will be taken into account by the curator: Communicability (identity between the event and its elements); Creativity (conceptual, technical innovation and aesthetic aspects); Originality (decoupling from existing identities); Applicability (possibility of application in different media).
Among the general guidelines are the adherence to the official colors of the Caprichoso and Garantido oxen and the use of elements in a general plan. For more information, the notice will be available on the Culture Portal (cultura.am.gov.br), as well as the registration form.
