A pioneer in so many aspects of Brazilian journalism, Glória Maria, who died this Wednesday, the 2nd, was known for reporting around the world. She was proud of the stamped passports and even managed to count how many countries she had been to: 160. And she even had a favorite place if one day she moved from Brazil with her daughters.
“Saint Tropez and Ibiza. I could be free with my daughters and safely. Nobody bothers you there, there is no violence”, he said in an interview with Narcisa Tamborindeguy, in 2018.
In addition to showing the local culture, gastronomy and doing great interviews, Gloria also threw herself into experiences. In some of them, she even became a meme, like when she used marijuana for religious purposes in Jamaica in a news report. She laughed at jokes on the web.
“I don’t know how to say this prayer, this prayer, but they want me to try. To refuse, not even thinking about it, would be disrespectful to tradition. At first, I was completely dizzy. For someone who is not used to it, it takes time to understand” , he said in Globo Repórter, in 2016, during the report.
Gloria was hospitalized, treating cancer, but the cause of her death has not yet been confirmed. She leaves two daughters, Maria and Laura. The journalist had been away from “Globo Repórter” for more than three months, due to her treatment. The last program presented by her was the edition of August 5, 2022.
