The survey is for the week of March 5th to 11th. ▶️ Gasoline: Common gasoline was marketed on average at R$ 5.57 a liter. The value represents an increase of 6.09% compared to the previous week’s R$5.25, according to ANP data. The maximum fuel price found at gas stations was R$7.19. ▶️ Ethanol: The liter of ethanol also increased: it went from R$ 3.88 to R$ 3.96. The increase in the price of fuel was 2.06%. The most expensive value found by the agency in the week was R$ 6.57. ▶️ Diesel: The average price of a liter of diesel, on the other hand, fell from R$ 5.93 to R$ 5.91. The indentation in the value of diesel was 0.33%. The highest price identified by the ANP was R$7.69 in the same week. ▶️ Context: The increase in the average price of gasoline occurs in the week following the officialization of the fuel reeneration by the federal government’s economic team. The return of federal taxes on gasoline and ethanol came into effect on March 1st. That same week, gasoline rose by 3.34%. The issue caused an impasse between the political and economic wings of the government. Ministers Fernando Haddad (PT), of Finance, and Alexandre Silveira, of Mines and Energy, explained on February 28th the return of federal taxes. The increases, according to Haddad, were: R$ 0.47 for gasoline R$ 0.02 for ethanol The Federal Revenue Secretary, Robinson Barreirinhas, informed that the partial reinstatement of taxes is valid for four months, until June. It will only be maintained in the second semester if Congress decides to convert the provisional measure into law. At the time, Haddad said that the impacts on the pumps would be smaller, since Petrobras had announced a reduction in gasoline and diesel prices for distributors. “We have a clear objective, which is to rebuild the public budget,” said the minister.
