Quentas of the Amazonas Green Jazz Festival prepare the public for the official season that takes place from July 21st to 30th, at Teatro Amazonas
Manaus (AM) – The Amazonas Green Jazz Festival is promoting a series of free actions so that the Manaus public can get into the mood of the event. This Saturday (7/15), at 5:30 pm, the premiere of the “BuritiJazz” project will take place with a concert by singer Márcia Siqueira, in the outdoor area of the Manauara Shopping food court. On Sunday (7/16), also at 5:30 pm, there will be a special pocket show by the duo Liê by César and Anderson Farias, in front of Casa do Jazz, located next to Teatro Amazonas. Admission is free for both events.
Born in Itacoatiara (AM), Márcia Siqueira has been showing off her talent since she was four years old. After traveling through the North-Northeast of Brazil, the singer launched her career in the Amazon and collects four solo albums, participation in Maria Bethânia’s album and several shows outside the country. In 2020, her life and career were portrayed in the book “A Voz da Floresta”, by journalist Betsy Bell, when she also became the first woman toada lifter for Boi Bumbá Garantido, at the Parintins Folk Festival. At BuritiJazz, Márcia will give a special show that unites regional sounds with jazz.
On Sunday (7/16), singer-songwriter Liê de Cezar will perform in a duo with pianist Anderson Farias at Casa do Jazz. From an artistic birthplace, she began her career as a performer and has already participated in major events, such as the 3rd edition of Sofar Sounds Latin America, the 18th Mostra de Música Canção da Mata, among others.
Anderson Farias is a composer, arranger, music educator and makes repertoires with jazz, MPB and pop music. In 2020, he released his first authorial album entitled “Transcendência”, an album composed of five original songs and two reinterpretations of classics from the Amazonian songbook. On stage, Anderson has already been present alongside big names in Amazonian music and performed at concerts and festivals in Brazil and abroad, including Italy, France and Switzerland.
The artistic director of Amazonas Green Jazz, Rui Carvalho, points out that BuritiJazz and the pocket show at Casa do Jazz are considered “warm ups” of the festival for the Manaus population to get into the mood of the event.
“This Saturday and Sunday, the population will have the opportunity to learn a little more about the Amazonas Green Jazz Festival, participating in the pocket show at Casa do Jazz and BuritiJazz in Manauara, with free and special shows, because the artists will perform repertoires that mix sounds with jazz rhythms”, he commented.
