Manaus (AM) – The Court of Justice of Amazonas, through the Commission for Preventing and Combating Moral Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination, will take place this Wednesday (5/17), at 10:30 am, in the lobby of the Minister Henoch Reis Forum, at the São Francisco neighborhood, south zone, the “Artistic Exhibition on Combating and Confronting Harassment and Discrimination”. The event will be held in partnership with Coletivo Arte Ocupa and has the support of the Faculty of Arts of the Federal University of Amazonas (Faartes).

The exhibition – which will remain in the Henoch Reis Forum hall until the next 24/05 – is made up of canvases and sculptures related to the themes of confronting harassment and discrimination, with works made especially for this event by 12 artists from the Coletivo Arte Ocupa who, for the most part, are undergraduate students and graduates from Ufam.

The event takes place in compliance with CNJ Resolution n.º 351/2020, which instituted the Policy to Prevent and Combat Moral Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination in the Judiciary; and CNJ Resolution No. 450/2022, which instituted the “Week to Combat Harassment and Discrimination” on the permanent agenda of the Courts of the Country.

Resolution No. 08/2023 instituted the Policy for Preventing and Combating Moral Harassment, Sexual Harassment and All Forms of Discrimination within the scope of the Judiciary Power of the State of Amazonas and regulates the means for its implementation and coordination.

Workshop

On the last day, 05/10, a workshop was held in which materials were delivered so that the artists could make their works, in addition to a meeting, to present the purpose of the exhibition and present ideas. The workshop was attended by a member of the TJAM Commission, server Rodrigo de Melo, artists, the director of the Faculty of Arts of Ufam, João Gustavo Kienen, and the pedagogical coordinator of Faartes, Lucyanne Afonso.

Awareness

Rodrigo de Melo points out that the exhibition aims to sensitize civil servants, magistrates and interns to a theme that the National Council of Justice has been keen to encourage before the courts in order to combat the problem. In this case of the exhibition, confrontation through art.

“Art causes this awareness in public authorities. And the exhibition is not only important for the works that will be exhibited, but also for the artists. Artists representing ethnic and cultural diversity were selected, such as indigenous peoples, blacks, women and LGBTQIA+, and to bring visibility and space to these plots to show their work. This is important to give visibility and form of combat in an idea united through the arts. And the venue for the exhibition, the Minister Henoch Reis Forum, was chosen because it is a place with a large number of people”, explains Rodrigo de Melo, who is also director of the 2nd Court of the District of Itacoatiara.

broad guidelines

Curator of the exhibition and member of Arte Ocupa, visual artist Marcelo Rufi said that the collective is honored and grateful for the invitation of the TJAM Commission for Prevention and Combating Moral Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination and that the cultural manifestation will give voice and visibility to a variety of artists.

“For us at Arte Ocupa, as a collective of independent northern artists, it is always a celebration to have the opportunity to exhibit artwork in all spaces on the streets, in galleries and wherever art is welcome. Regarding the invitation to collaborate for this collective exhibition, we feel honored and at the same time very happy that the Commission for the Prevention and Combating Moral Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination contacted us. The collective talks with broad guidelines that meet the work of this TJAM Commission. In this exhibition, artists from different bodies, experiences and existence take part as black artists, from Afro matrix religions, trans artists, gays, feminists, peripherals, indigenous. among others, where their lines will be portrayed on 11 screens and 1 sculpture. For them it is an opportunity to occupy spaces where they have not had visibility”, said Rufi, who is a student of the 8th period at Ufam.
