24-09/ Day zero – Starting from the beginning

Castilla-La Mancha is in the central part of Spain. The scene of Don Quixote’s famous battle against the windmills, the region is almost always hot and dry, ideal for the cultivation of olives, vines and pistachios, typical local products. Goat farming is also traditional in the region, which for four centuries was under Moorish domination and to this day still has Arab elements in its culture, with AL being very pronounced, the dishes being very spicy and the use of lamb and goat’s milk.

Around here, in fact, Manchego Cheese is a source of pride. Produced 100% with goat’s milk, it is a product of the La Mancha Denomination of Origin. The cheese has a mild and at the same time striking flavor. Ideal for eating at different times of the day, but even better with a good glass of red wine produced here.

Over the next five days, the Good Gourmet will be together with chef Manu Buffara exploring all these flavors and the gastronomic and cultural riches of the southern portion of the La Mancha region. The local rural landscapes hold some gastronomic treasures, such as Michelin-star restaurants and five-star hotels inspired by Spanish villages and specializing in golf.

This tour is part of the recording of the second episode of the 50Best web series in partnership with the local government. The first episode is now available on YouTube.

You can follow the day-to-day recordings on Bom Gourmet’s social networks (Instagram and Facebook) and also here, where I will come back daily to update you on what happened in our day and take you on a journey through the charms of the land of Don Quixote.
