Fiocruz researcher and psychologist are speakers at a symposium on mental health at Aleam

Manaus (AM) – Researcher Jesem Orellana, from Instituto Leônidas & Maria Deane/Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (ILMD/Fiocruz Amazônia) and doctor, psychologist Andrea Bezerra Chaves will be the speakers at the 3rd Prevention is Solution Symposium, which will be held this Thursday (28), at 1pm, in the Ruy Araújo plenary of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (Aleam).
The event is promoted by the Parliamentary Front for Care and Prevention of Depression, Suicide and Drugs (Fenapred) of the Legislative Branch of Amazonas and the Commission for Prevention of Depression and Drugs of the National Union of Legislators and State Legislatures (Unale), both chaired by the deputy state João Luiz (Republicans).
Researcher Jesem Orellana will give the lecture with the theme: “Suicide in Brazil: National Panorama, Possible Causes and Prevention Strategies” and psychologist Andrea Bezerra highlights that in her lecture she will address the topic: “Postvention: a painful but necessary intervention”.
“These are extremely important lectures for Amazonian society. The Symposium: Prevention is a Solution is a national public policy developed by our Parliamentary Front at Aleam and the Unale Commission”,
highlighted deputy João Luiz.
The republican highlights that the symposium reaches its third edition as an information tool for the Brazilian population. The first edition of the event took place in Boa Vista (RR) and the second, in Venâncio Aires (RS), the latter municipality with the highest suicide rate in the country.

State deputy João Luiz also highlights that on Thursday (28), at 5:30 pm, the Basta: Self-injury, Depression and Suicide campaign will take place in Largo de São Sebastião, in the center of Manaus.
