Fifth episode of the Storytelling project is launched by the city hall in a school in the East zone

Initiative benefits 10,800 early childhood education students

Manaus (AM) – Inspired by the book “The Dust Monster”, the City Hall of Manaus, through the Municipal Department of Education (Semed), held, this Wednesday, 7/5, the launch of the 5th episode of the Storytelling project, at the 84 teaching units, which participate in the program. With this initiative, approximately 10,800 students from kindergarten and from the 1st to the 5th grade of elementary school benefit, in addition to 350 teachers in the network.

In the third season, the action is coordinated by the secretariat’s Ocas of Environmental Knowledge. Until the end of the school year, the pedagogical work of nine episodes is planned, approaching the theme of the environment.

The objective of the meeting is to work on environmental education in a playful way, to improve the understanding of the modality’s students about the theme’s awareness. The work presented is part of the collection of stories from the specialization course in Environmental Education, Jaraqui Collection, at the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam).

For Semed’s Ocas Environmental Knowledge coordinator, Renato Júnior, the project represents yet another pedagogical tool for educators in teaching units, to work on this issue in the classroom.

“Each episode is a theme of environmental education. Today this fifth episode is being released in 84 schools, in particular here at Eliana Pacheco, you will have the whole month to work on this episode, with videos, dramatization, interpretation, reading, in short, then an activity is created based on this episode. At the end of the month, the schools that managed to work send a final report. Through these reports, we make the statistics. We see that there is positive feedback and that our work is being carried out successfully”,

Activity

The municipal school Eliana Socorro Pacheco Braga de Souza, Jorge Teixeira, east side, which serves 1,040 students from kindergarten and from 1st to 5th grade of elementary school, was the stage for the launch of the 5th episode of the Storytelling project. According to manager Rossana Agahnejad, the unit already has its own project on the theme “Playing so as not to fight”.

“The storytelling comes to add values ​​with themes addressed by the school in a playful and very pleasant way with characters that are being worked with the students. The teachers enter the classroom, play the videos, ask questions, encourage the children to live the character, recreate the stories in the classroom, in addition to other activities. We are in the east zone of Manaus, considered a red area in terms of outdoor hygiene, and we have a project that we have been developing for many years at school with recyclable materials”,

Gustavo Nil D’Avila Ferreira, 9 years old, 4th year elementary school student, said he learned a lot about the story told, especially in the environment of the neighborhood with many problems.

“People often throw garbage in the streets, go to the sewer and it clogs up. Another thing, when we throw garbage in the environment it will pollute the areas of the plants and they begin to not bear the garbage, and they end up dying and also polluting the animals. I learned, when we throw garbage in rivers, seas, on beaches and in many places the garbage will clog up everything, causing the animals to get trapped in plastic bags and end up dying”,

With all this dirt, Dona Jiji remembers a little story, the boy Paulino, who didn’t have good hygiene habits, didn’t help in keeping his house clean, but one day he had an encounter that changed his life.

The story was inspired by the book The Dust Monster, from the collection of stories from the Specialization Course in Environmental Education, Jaraqui Collection, at Ufam.
