The second auction, scheduled for September, has R$4.6 billion in investment forecast, with works in seven states. The notice will still undergo public consultation, for subsequent confirmation by Aneel. The previous record had been set in 2023, with the first event of the year, which contracted R$15.7 billion. Billion-dollar investments in transmission networks are associated with the expansion of renewable energy plants in Brazil, mainly solar and wind in the Northeast and north of Minas Gerais. To transport production to consumers, concentrated in the Southeast region, the government contracts the construction of this infrastructure. Investments are remunerated by the Permitted Annual Revenue (RAP) of the transmitters, set by Aneel and reflected in the electricity bill.
