Employment: joint effort will have 6,000 job and internship vacancies – 07/24/2023 – Market

The Employment Mutirão of the Union of Commerce Workers of São Paulo will offer 6,000 job openings, including, for the first time, internship opportunities. The offer will be possible after a partnership between the UGT (General Union of Workers), the Commerce Workers Union and the CIEE (Company-School Integration Center).

The fair, which reaches its eighth edition this year, takes place at the union’s headquarters, at Rua Formosa, 99, in the Anhangabaú valley (central region of São Paulo), from 7 am. Service will run until 5 pm. There will be opportunities for young apprentices, aged between 14 and 24, and people with disabilities, in addition to special assistance for immigrants and refugees.

More than 140 companies are expected to participate, including Carrefour, IBM, Magazine Luiza, Renner and Pão de Açúcar, which have already participated in other editions of the event.

According to Ricardo Patah, president of UGT and the Union of Commerce Workers, the expectation is that at least 10,000 people will pass through the place in the four days of the event, an average public of other editions. The trade unionist says, however, that with the drop in unemployment, the queue could be smaller than in other years.

“Now unemployment has decreased in relation to what it was, we are in a different moment, it is important that we do the task force and that we can measure this queue”, he says.

Those interested in participating must bring a personal document, proof of address, work card and, if possible, a CV. Young people looking for their first job do not need a work card to apply for jobs.

Qualification and training courses will also be offered. Workers who manage to join the union will have food.

“There will be a partnership with the CIEE that we created, and we are also strengthening the issue of qualification and training even more. For those looking for a job, this is the moment. The professional willing to work gets a job. I am sure that we have many beautiful stories, as we have had”, says Patah.

Organized by the Commerce Workers Union since 2018, the Mutirão do Emprego has already received almost one hundred thousand participants in all its editions. In 2022, the mutirão returned to face-to-face after the online edition in the pandemic.

In the face-to-face edition before the pandemic, the fourth of the mutirão, 4,000 places were offered to 8,478 participants. In all, 2,800 were hired. In the first four mutirões, 78,870 workers participated. In all, 22,680 vacancies were offered and 12,650 people were employed.

Companies must offer vacancies for seller, human resources analyst, store operator, mechanic, financial assistant, cashier, general assistant, cook, storekeeper, logistics assistant, fishmonger, baker, pastry chef, kitchen assistant, storekeeper and forklift operator, among others.
